Waiting for Beckett is a short film directed by David Kloepfer and written by Ben Labadia. After his brother is diagnosed with AIDS, a teenage boy waits in a hospital room alongside his homophobic father and his brother’s secret boyfriend. As tensions rise, the three are forced to confront prejudice, love, and the truths they’ve long avoided.

From 2021 to 2023, I produced my first short film, Waiting for Beckett. I collaborated with six other team members across all departments to make this idea come to life.
Pre-Production
- Budgeted and raised over $16,000.
- Secured filming locations, oversaw the audition process.
- Hired actors and negotiated contracts.
- Managed notes during weekly meetings.
Production
- On-set COVID Safety Officer (certified)
- Prepped the location for filming,
- Provided transport for actors and crew to/from the set
- Worked with location staff
- Managed allocation of funds during the shoot.
Post-Production
- Balanced final budget
- Researched film festival submissions and entries
