Synopsis
Waiting for Beckett follows a teen boy, Danny, in the hospital waiting room after his brother, Beckett, has been diagnosed with AIDS. In the room with Danny is his homophobic and desperate father, and Beckett’s outspoken, yet secret, boyfriend. Tensions arise while the three are trapped in the waiting room, awaiting a chance to visit Beckett.
It’s raw, gripping, and heartbreaking, but all about family and the idea of coming together in a time when everything seems to be in shambles.

Producer
From 2021 to 2023, I produced my first short film, Waiting for Beckett. I collaborated with six other team members across all departments to make this idea come to life.

Pre-Production
Budgeted and raised over $16,000, secured filming locations, oversaw the audition process, hired actors, organized contracts and paperwork, and managed notes during weekly meetings.

Production
On-set COVID Safety Officer (certified), prepped the location for filming, provided transport for actors and crew to/from the set, worked with location staff, and managed allocation of funds during the shoot.

Post-Production
Balanced final budget, researched film festival submissions and entries, organized ADR sound.
